i'm thinking about buying the above motor. it has 688 hours, seller is looking for $3600 canadian. that seems like a reasonable price but i know next to nothing about outboards. my brother tells me that etecs are known to have problems...is this true? i'm planning on putting it on my 19 ft fiberglass boat that now has an inboard. i want to take that engine out and convert the transom to take an outboard. will a 90 hp be big enough? not looking to break any speed records, just get on plane and cruise at a reasonable speed. what should i be looking for in a used outboard and what to stay away from?
