I'm looking for some info o omc power trims and tile specifically for the older ones. A family member has come to me as the DIY guy and has 1975 evinrude 50 sizzler manual tilt, and also has a tilt n trim unit from a newer unit maybe mid or late 80s, I know the older units used that big bracket that had the pump and lift shocks on the outside of the engine bracket, and the newer style they went two was all located inside the bracket area. Can this tilt and trim unit work if I just find a 80s style bracket or what would i need? Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

The 50 uses a different Transom/Swivel Bracket than the Larger engines, even into the 90s.

Right, but can I use a swivel and bracket from say a newer 40,50,60 hp that fits that tilt and fits the motor?

In 89 they went to the unit inside the bracket.-----But the older lower units do not bolt onto that newer midsection.

The Power Trim Kit for the 1975 50 was OMC part# 172858, I doubt there are many, if any, NOS out there.

It will be far easier, quicker, and less stressful for you to consider a unit from CMC
