Anything special to do when doing a compression test on these motors?
Can I just pull the plugs and spin it?

That is pretty much it. Turn the engine over until the gauge stabilizes and stops changing numbers

Gee, leave the ign off and jumper the starter solenoid. Then it is easy to do with one person.

This is exactly what I did....here are the results:

Stb Port
115 100 95 95
105 100 88 95
95 90 80 85

Also, the Port engine beeped once every ~30 seconds.......what does that mean?

Water temps didn't seem increase much.....stuck thermostats?
See how the water was coming out of the engines: between the lower unit and the mid-section. See video:

Another question: the charging system didn't appear to be working on either engine: do they not charge at idle?

I'm sure I will have more questions!

If you look at the seam between the midsection and gearcase, you will see slots that are supposed to let cooling water exit.

Engine should have Quick start system where cold engines run at 900-1100 RPM until warm. Then idle should settle down to about 500RPM. Difference is noticeable. If that is not happening, I would check the 'stats.

Engines should charge a bit at idle. At 1200 RPM you should see 13+volts.

Thanks Chris........I don't have the boat home yet!

Also, the Port engine beeped once every ~30 seconds.......what does that mean?
Did some research here.......possible low oil?

What about these gauges? The (2) the lower gauges next to the tachs.....I thought they were temp gauges........are they presure gauges? They did increase/decrease w/ the RPM's.

Water pressure gauges are the better of the two IMO. If you have water pressure and good 'stats, she should not overheat.

OK.......so I brought the boat home today and the questions will be starting.
Should I start a new thread or continue this one?

Did find a gas leak on the stb engine.....need to locate source.
Can I run the engine w/o the air box in place?

If that motor has plastic carb bowls, look for cracks. Motor can be run w/o air box. Source up some new spark plugs. They can be had at auto parts stores sometimes.

The beep every 30 seconds means a low oil condition in the oil tank.

For that motor:

solid tone is over heat. Solid tone can also indicate fuel restriction. Turn off motor and do not run until issue resolved.

rapid beep tone means a no oil condition. Again turn off motor.

beep every 30 is low oil
