Just getting boat ready for the summer (late I know), and remembered that the telltale water jet was very weak last season, so replaced the impeller, key, stainless pump-plate and gasket. Boat hooked up to water-muffs and manifold connector ... not a drop from the telltale. Engine ran fine, ran until thermostat opened, and water from prop exit was warm as expected. (also scanned with Suzuki SDS 8 - no codes, and temps seemed fine).
Removed engine side covers to examine the telltale and found a the telltale hose was intact and tight, but very corroded ..
Once the hose was removed, I was able to clear the blockage in the bottom of the exhaust manifold ... it seemed to be silted up with sand rather than scale (thankfully!). Blew through the hose and the telltale as well just to be sure.
A couple of SS ear clips later, and telltale working fine without the engine running. Even better when running!
