Does anyone remember a black tar-like stuff you could get from OMC that was used to help seal lower units? It was gooey and stuck to everything, but you sure could seal up anything. It was many years ago, but I seem to remember something we used instead of permatex around the o-rings

Dave.... That is OMC Adhesive, still available but of course with the Bombardier brand name.

It is also available under the brand name of Marprox Sealer 1000 and the Boat Armor brand name. The Boat Armor brand will list the Sealer 1000 on the front of the tube. These two items are identical to the OMC/Bombardier adhesive.

Thanks so much, Joe. I seem to remember this stuff working better than vanilla permatex when resealing gearcases. I'll pick some up and give it a whirl. I have a '65 selectric that has emulsified oil, and I need to reseal it.
