1976 4 hp johnson breaker points

Hi, just seeing if any one has the breaker point gap measurment for a 76 Johny 4hp. I have a stuped clymer manual and it is as useful as a *** on a nun. <br />thanks for any info.

roger that, took her out on the salt chuck for the first time in nine years and she ran like a charm. bogs a bit at high end but i figure after some hours at med throttle. should work her in. Time and love. She will be great. looking forward to fishing<br />thanx JB

.020" will get you running but you can fine tune the timing with a ohm meter or test light. Take a look at my http://www.outboard-boat-motor-repa...on 3 HP 1952-1967 Ignition System Tune-up.htm <br />The extra effort definately pays off in how smooth it runs.

Excellent post. I have a 1974 4hp johnson,that would not hit a lick. I was about to send it to the shop which the last time cost me over 300 bucks. I saw your post and said hey I can do this. It runs better than the last time it left the shop.I also cleaned and set the carb by I think it was commanders post. just wanted to say you guys rock and it cost me 30 bucks to get bassy going. Thanks alot
