Ok so I have an Evinrude 48 spl, I think it's a 1991. See picture of model#. First is this a 91? I've used the site to compare characters. Next can someone post a link for me to buy the service manual. I think I have some bad seals in the lower unit and I'd like to do it myself. I've got a thick grey discharge from the prop area and an oil or gas slick behind my boat. Might be running lean bit I'd like a manual so I can properly tune this thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Crap cant upload the photo

That sludge might be normal for a 2 stroke engine.----A 40 / 48 / 50 HP would all use the same manual.----Any water getting in the gear oil ??--------EI in the model # would indicate a 91 model.

I'm going to take a look at the lower oil today if I can. Also gonna run some decarbonizer through it today if I can. I think k the model number is E48ESLEIM, make sense? But the top half of all the characters is rubbed off so the I could be a T but I'm pretty sure it's a 91 on a 91 Lowe deep v 1750

A factory manual would be best.-----Some manuals are good for use in the wee house with the " half moon " in the door.

Just drained they gear oil, looks good, no water and no metal on the magnet. So my seals are good right?
