Serial plate is missing, but this is a late 70's/80's classic 70 hp. I have the controls and there are 2 blue cables. There is an opivious attachment bolt on the bottom of the solenoid. Can not determine where other blue cable hooks up which is ground (I guess) or which cable is bolted to the bottom terminal.

These cables are blue. The "oblivious" connection is on the bottom of the solenoid as the bolt was loose and I remember now that that is a common connection for OMC as far as I remember, and also that cable had a rubber hood on it which seems common for such connections. The top bolt connects directly to the starter motor. Just found out by flowing old wear patterns that the shorter of the blue cables bolts to the side of the water jacket on the starboard side ( earth/ground) if you face the front of the outboard. I think it is good now, does it sound right?
