35hp vibration

Hi all!
A few weeks ago I installed my spare motor, a '83 35hp Evinrude on my boat. It seems to run well and does a good job pushing this boat, but it has an odd vibration in forward gear only .It is smooth at idle and in reverse. Put it in forward and it rattles the boat at idle and smooths out somewhat at speed.
Anyone have any ideas? Never had this problem with an outboard.

No damage to prop, no odd noises, motor actually looks close to new condition.
One thing I have noticed is that occasionally it will skip and feel like you hit a submerged log. I had a 25hp of this series that did that when it was jumping out of forward gear. I hope to pull it out of the water early next week to adjust the shift linkage.

Changed the gear oil when I put it on the boat a few weeks ago, clean and clear.

Thanks, I'll do that when I pull it to check the shift linkage.
