What are the 6 screws that attach the skeg to the lower gear case, standard or metric? The same for the 4 bolts that attach the lower gear case to the mid section, standard or metric?

I want to run a tape in to clean those screw and bolt threads like the 'ol boy on some youtube video does before he reassembles his work. I just don't want to screw up any existing threads.

Thanks ahead of time for any ones input.

ALL SAE standard some folks run a tap to clean the threads apply release lubricant .. me I use common teflon tape used in plumbing a few wraps of the white tape if loose…….. a bit you can wrap more layers or use the thicker yellow teflon tape.

might just one of the existing bolts, and run it in and out with a dab of marine grease.

Yes oldboat1. I just may do that. Bolts/screws are not loose and thread holes are not worn. If it's not broken, right?

Sorry oldboat1, I've been gone awhile. Go to youtube and type in "reseal lower unit on 15hp" scroll through the videos, It's the guy that wears the blue gloves. Have a good one.
