I have a 1975 Evinrude 6hp, 6504R. someone has driven the wrong size split pin into the propeller shaft hole and expanded it making it unusable.
I have a spare1966 6hp 6202 spare with a good shaft but don't know if they are interchangeable. from the parts diagrams they seem the same diameter but the 1975 has a different seal kit from the 1966 one. I am very inexperienced so would be grateful for those in the know. thanks.

model number for 1966 is 6602 (6202 is 1972)

Whichever, the shaft is the same part number for both and for your 1975 model!

Usually a bit of file work around the hole is all you need to do to slide the bearing housing off.-----Seal was different on later models.----Shaft is the same.----And a 6202 would be a 1972 model as stated earlier..

Confirming, 6202 (1972) and 6504 (1975) both use the same prop shaft, part number 305261, now called 0305261. Whichever the heck you have.

yes sorry my mistake. it is a 1966 6602 shaft. I was thrown off because the seal kits are different on the 1966 and 1975 models. thankyou for your replies.

6602 (1966) also uses the same 0305261 prop shaft. I think (but haven't checked for sure) the seal kit difference is due to a different drive shaft seal.
