Vintage Johnson JW-10

i recently recovered a Johnson 3HP -JW-10 (1952-1954) boat motor and I was wondering if anyone knew the value of this motor or if it’s even something sought after? Not sure yet if it runs, or even who I could bring it to in order to test that? Any ideas or information would be greatly appreciated.

Lots of them still out there and running well. They are not worth a bundle of money due to the abundance. But still a popular motor among the old motors collectors. Unless they have already been replaced, it needs new coils as well as the usual ignition/fuel/water pump service. Check out the Antique Outboard Motors Club www.aomci.org

I have purchased them as low as $30 Some folks probably got them free !

Also seen some in the hundreds …. it all depends on condition (aka COMPRESSION and innards if stored properly or not)
the rest is usually easy to fixup … parts available (clean up the carb and redo electricals, impeller seals tec…)

Little kickers are great for trolling in the back woods and beats a pair of oars anytime :fish2:

why not start yourself a new hobby and refurbish it yourself …..they are easy to work on with a minimum of tools
a flywheel puller is needed but you can reuse that on your next project eace:

2- ignition coils will need replacement .. likely all cracked (Chineese ones are down to $13 CDN on EBAY )

lots of utubes to watch and learn including ADJUSTING POINTS & TIMING which may seem complex at the beginning but easy as pie
