adding a tiller system

happy holidays first off, and now the question
can a tiller handle and linkage from the late 60's 22 cube engine bolt right on a 40 hp as long as it has the fitting to do so on it? if so, what are the year ranges that would be compatible. i'm looking for a 40 but having trouble finding 1 with long shaft and tiller controls. i do have several 22 cube 18's and 25's for parts though.

The 22 cubic inch tiller does NOT fit on a 40 HP.
