I have viewed a few videos, checked diagrams and examined my td-20. Is there a water outlet other than the exhaust spout? How can I tell if my water is circulating/pumping?

A lot of those motors had a wee hole drilled in the tubing of the cooling system.

Relying on memory of about 30 years ago, there is a curved copper water tube exiting the bottom of the powerhead. In one of the elbow fittings (I believe the lower one), there is a small squirt hole. Hard to see the hole unless you look. But when it is running there will be a strong squirt at a downward / aft angle from it. Spin it around for reverse, and it will pee in the boat.

Here's a picture of the pee-stream exposed with the lower shroud removed. Mine is a TN but a TD & TS also have the same tell-tale water outlet despite the fundamental water pump differences. The water comes out of a controlled orifice below the nut on the water pipe, shown below.
