I am bringing an Evinrude 3hp back to service and am looking for parts. The mod # is 3402c which lists say is a 1964. All the parts lists I have looked at do not mention a C model. Can anyone help with the C so I get parts that work?
Also does anyone know the model name, Lightwin, Yachtwin, etc.

3402 is a 1964 Lightwin 3hp. The "C" identifies any mid-year changes that were made If there were any changes. Otherwise, it means nothing. The parts book will indicate the change, if applicable.

Thanks F_R. Some of the parts lists I have looked at have S-R after the model number. Are they to be ignored when ordering parts?

You ignore them.--------Not much difference on those motors year after year.

I don't have a 3402 parts list, but this should show you what I mean. Note that item #53 points to a footnote at the bottom of the page. Model 5602C takes one part number and 5602R takes a different part----the mid-year change.

Good info to know. Do you know if service manuals and parts lists are available through the forum?

iboats has parts lists back through 1968. Many, but not all parts are same as your '64. Click "Parts" at the top of this page, then the OEM icon, then follow through with make and model etc. A '68 would be Model 6802.

iboats also sells aftermarket service manuals, not bad for a novice in spite of the negative publicity. No one book is going to make an outboard technician out of you. We had to go to school for that, along with years of OJT.

I take your last point and as you note I am a novice. I am accustomed to yard equip 2-cycle, chain saws, trimmers, etc and often work off OEM service manuals. It seems in the old out board field OEM manuals are treated as antiques and sell at dear prices. Thanks for your help and comments.
