My engine died at full throttle and then would only run at idle speed without bogging down and stalling. After trying lots of times it now won't start. Tried new gas, tested coils and power pack, and gas seems to get to the carburator. Pulled carburator for rebuild while I'm at it. Looking for advice on other potential causes that should be investigated. Thanks

Compression is 120 in each. Not sure about the spark question. Can you explain please? Kill switch is manual at end of tiller. No lanyard.

lower unit issue? Check oil. Remove l.u. and check driveshaft.

The lower unit is unchartered water for me other than changing the oil. Any guidance on how to do this?

Take out the four bolts (75), and take the nut (54) off the stud (25). Take off the cover (30) to access the shift rod disconnect. Disconnect the shift rod, and drop the lower unit. The driveshaft will drop down with the lower unit. Take a look at the driveshaft — see if you can turn the shaft by hand.

Good idea to get a service manual for your motor (oem, model specific is best).
