Steering linkage help

It is called a ball joint. That type is more or less obsolete--possibly even illegal because it can become disconnected. Get a new one here at iboats (one that can't come apart)

Thanks. If I just take the one off the end of the rod on my boat a shop should be able to find a replacement right?

I don't see any adjustment, this should be spring loaded and since the hole is not up inside with the slot. Think you need new cables

Ball goes inside hole, then lower part slides up inside inside so it keeps ball inside. The end of the ball should be some kind of stud which attaches to steering arm on motor

I was able to use wd40 and get the old part working. Does it need to be disconnected from the motor when I raise it for towing?
