I have a 1975 Evinrude 115 that runs great. I have 2 batteries on the boat , one for the big motor and one for the electric trolling motor. Minn Kota makes a 2 bank alternator that states it will charge both batteries off of the big motor.
My question is, has anyone tried this and can I ruin my Rectifier with this setup. Everything works great right now and I charge my batteries at home as they need. Any advice would be appreciated.

Any notion of charging the trolling motor battery is wishful thinking. It requires too many Amps for too long. Maybe if you run the big motor all day long.

I think calling an ACR an alternator borders on :censored:

The minimum requirement for the Minn Kota device appears to be a 12 amp motor alternator. I think the '75 Evinrude would have 6 amps, but check. (Check the Minn Kota model as well -- the one for charging two batteries might require a higher amp alternator.)

You might consider a battery isolator for charging both battery banks, but check amperage requirements and recommendations.
