I recently purchased a Zepher s/n 4404-42940. I'm looking to do a restoration project. I need help identifying the correct paint color and scheme. I thought I had it nailed it down until I noticed the name plate on the front of the tank. It's gold instead of silver with red letters. It hasn't been painted. Does anyone have any info on this? I only see the silver with red colors on line.

Likewise, all I see are silver. Post your question at www.aomci.org There's a guy named Garry there that knows those motors inside out.

Red lettering on a gold background (on the decal) is likely right around WWII, 1942 or 1945. I think the background went turquoise with white lettering around 1947.

The motors themselves should be silver, although they produced them in duck green for the military (Evinrudes in general, not Zephyrs specifically)

That was the worst motor Evinrude ever built. I had two of them and threw them both in the dump. JMO !!
