79 mod 55hp has no power

My 79 model 55hp evenrude has no power. We have done compression test and it has new fuel pump and lines.

It's still verr stubborn to crank I have ordered rebuild kit for the carbs today. Any ideas where to start looking would be awesome.

Have you checked for spark? Is the starter motor turning fast enough? Is the choke working correctly? Using the cold start procedure?

What was compression results???

Compression was 103 on top cylinder and 107 on bottom cylinder. I have a hot blue spark for 3/8 to 1/2 inch. It turns over fast with a hot battery.

I am not sure what you call a cold start routine.

I pulled the carbs off today and I am supposed to receive the rebuild kits today.

Could the power pack or stator be getting weak?

I know car motors. I can rebuild anything mechanical. There are just a few more delicate adjustments and parts on an outboard.

That's low for that motor......should be 135+psi

My tester would show 140 + on those.----If you are getting 1/2 spark there is nothing wrong with the ignition system.----But have you checked the flywheel key ?----A sheared key will throw out the timing.
