Hello all, i have a question about a lower cowling leak on my 87(ish?) E-tec 90. Motor runs great but i am getting oily residue coming from the base of the lower cowling. Any ideas what the problem is? I suspect a seal may be blown. Thanks in advance!

Pretty sure you do not have an E-tec. That oil is probably from the air box either the seal or the reclaim hose needs replacing. Pretty common for a carb motor.

That is just the standard V-4 crossflow motor.----Could be a leaking gasket under the block.-----Not even close to an E-TEC in technology.----Any pictures or why are you referring to it being an E-TEC.----A new ploy by a seller perhaps ?.

Exactly what flyingscott said.Maybe the op just got the names mixed up .That's just your standard everyday older evinrude. If I had one speck of grease anywhere but the swivel head on my etec id have a heart attack!
