I am working on a 1998 Johnson 150, 60 degree looper, and I took the starter off to check it. Behind the starter was a small tube, I would call it a crossover tube, running from one fitting to another on the powerhead. It looks completely flattened.

It should be easy to replace, but was it properly routed? Looks like the starter will also just crush the new one eventually, if I replace it and route it like this.

By rights a starter shouldn't be moving and crushing anything. Was the starter loose?

Re-route the line so the starter does not pinch it. Looks linked where it comes off of the lower nipple also.
