I have a 94-95 B75 7.5Hp 4-stroke and the pull start is messed up, it doesn't recoil the rope back in. I took the assembly out to take a look and the bolt is unscrewing itself on every pull. Anyone know of a fix for this??

First of all,Honda did'nt have a 7.5 in the 90s. Secondly the recoil starter on these units is nowhere anyone wants to go.I've been there and tried it.Better off finding a used starter or going new.

Heres more of a scoop on the issue......

I took the pull start assemblt and rebuilt it, using some loctight to keep the bolt from freeing itself. However with the assembly off the engine all seems to work out ok, planty of tension in the recoil spring etc. But once I put it back on the engine it will pull but not recoil. To me it seems as though there is too much pressure from the flywheel to let it recoil. To me it makes no sense why it wont work when put back on.

PS. The motor is a B75 Serial 4011894. What year is it? It is white with blue.

Well its working now, apparently I was missing a washer in the middle bolt. All is now good!
