Nissan 9.9 OB model NS9.9 B2 1987 according to Nissan want to change the throttle cam to upgrade to a 15 HP

Have removed the Man starter housing, timing linkage, and cant rotate timing bracket enough to remove 2nd throttle cam screw. Do I have to remove flywheel to get clearance? Back throttle cam screw is easy front has no clearance no matter how you rotate bracket.

Did you review your Factory service manual? You do know that there are different cams, depending on the actual model you want to upgrade, right? Assuming you have the 9.9B2, the original throttle cam should be 364637180M, and the 15/18 hp cam is 362637180M. Pulling the flywheel takes under 5 minutes, btw.

Thanks, Paul removed the flywheel and installed throttle cam checked and part number matches. Test in the spring when Alaskan waters warm. Thanks Kurt

When upgrading a 9.9 B2 to the latest 15D2 version need to adjust the timing advance to 25 deg as the 9.9 B2 surely works with much less timing advance, say 20-22 deg.

Before the motor is put into operation with the new cam check that at full throttle the carb is fully opened with butterfly stopping at 180 deg along checking at which timing mark the timing plate stops at ? 25 mark is the last mark seen on the left side of the plate.

If the carb does not opens fully the butterfly and the timing mark stops at any other mark than at 25 deg will need to make a new carb/timing synch for motor to work as expected..
