[h=1]My Tohatsu M40D2 3C8 has about .3 amp draw from the battery with the ignition switch off. I'd noticed that the battery will be weak after a few weeks of not use.

My thoughts are that there should be no current draw at all with the key off.

Seeking advice.[/h]
Thanks.

300 mA is quite a bit. It should be close to zero when stopped. There could be some leakage at the starter solenoid, but I've never seen that. Likewise, there could be an issue at the key switch or associated wiring, possibly due to water intrusion. Time to break out the ammeter and ohm meter and see if you can track it down. In the meantime, I would either switch the battery OFF or disconnect a lead at the battery if not running for a few days.

Thanks Pvanv. I will do some checking around with my VOM and for the time being I will be disconnecting the battery when not in use. I thought 300mA was a little high.

There's a knob switch to connect ON-OFF the battery that could be added to front panel , that way when OB is not in use simply turn knob OFF to disconnect battery...

Happy Boating
