How Long do Lower Leg's O'rings Lasts ?

Most likely leakage thru seal...was this after the power tune treatment????

Been using the CRC product for years now on constantly basis, this product won't harm any gasket, o'rings nor oil seals. It's pure aging issue, the horse has 900 run hours, probably not much on very large HP-OB's but definitely quite much on portable OB's which has smaller and lighter parts compared to.

Will order a crank shaft o'ring and oil seal kit, new standard rings and OEM cylinder and exhaust gaskets, should fix the mayonnaise leak...

Idiotic question.-

Is it possible to have a water intrusion scenario through lower leg oil seal without no oil leaking through mentioned seal ? A dry floor confirms so.The gear oil has not been emulsified at the moment as to detect huge water intrusion.

Other question : if replacing the o'ring and oil seal located on propeller shaft housing would it be a good idea to replace the o'ring and oil seal located under water pump along the gear shift o'rings ?

Thanks Paul, way to go then, will include the drive shaft oil seal located under pan as well. Parts should arrive next week courtesy of fiancee express LOL!!

Still 65 hours left to go for the 1 K hour powerhead acheduled disassembly and mayor restoration. Will replace all o'rings, oil seals located at the upper, middle and lower leg sections and powerhead gaskets for new OEM ones.

As I intend to keep this nice horse running top for years to come was wondering if it would be a good practice to replace upper and lower crankshaft's ball bearings, standard piston rings set, piston pins and needle bearings as well along all mentioned parts. Thoughts...

It all depends on labor costs. You will have the block apart, so MSRP of $27 for each ball bearing is a no-brainer. If doing piston pins, yes, new needle bearings makes sense.

Labor cost to tear the crankcase down, remove old parts/install new parts in, seal and reassemble crankcase lids is just $ 30.00. Many cold ones are not included. LOL!!

2 ball bearings, 2 piston pins, 2 needle bearings, 4 piston clips, 1 lower spacer and clip which costs less than $ 100.00 are included. Is cheap well invested money, gives peace of mind for not having to tear the crankcase a second time in many years to come.

Question : Would it be good to change the nylon ball # 332011211, check valve # 332011220, sealing plug # 350000630 located under crankcase. Part number 1-5 / 1-6 / 1-7 page 1 as part of the crankcase restoration ?

For $4 in parts, why not?

Have you had the opportunity to pull the sealing plug and check the spring condition ? is the only part that would stress the most, to know, does these parts deals with air or fuel and 2 strokes oil mixture ?

Luis,

Since I am in the US, we just don't see many old 2-stroke motors. Looks like part of the oil recirculation or puddle drain system.

Thanks Paul, will order all 3, probably spring has lost its factory tension and OB needs to count with a new one. Will include a new check valve, the one located inside the vertical lubrication pipe just in case.
