Looking for real-world user feedback on late model 90s, not many threads so I guess either not many sold or it's a decent motor. I'm looking to purchase one with "low hours", probably no sea trial. I will check compression, should plugs be light brown like a carb motor?

What actual model? MD90C2? The newer TLDI's use less fuel and burn nicer. Yes, plugs should be tan/brown. They are based on carbed 2-stroke blocks, so they are solid.

Is it possible to convert a 20 inch model to the 25"? I know Bay makes kits for some other models, but not tdli 90's.
Looking at a honda 90 it looks like they just add a section.

You need to change the shifter, drive shaft, water pipe, and add the extension housing.
3C7Q873142EXTENSION HOUSING KIT UL (AMB)$673.02
Will also need base gasket, adaptor gasket, driveshaft bearings, lower unit seal kit.

Thanks, probably about 8 hours labor at a shop, ruins the deal I was looking at.

Or do the job yourself. It is, after all, the off season. Probably can get local assistance. OR, find someone with an UL motor who would like to swap...
