Chrysler 45 Steering cable?

Hell everyone I really hope someone can help me lol but I am trying to replace my steering cable on the Chrysler 45 but I can get the old cable off behind the steering wheel? Also I have it disconnected from the motor but cant get the cable to come out of the the its housed in!! Any suggestions???? Also where can I get a new cable and does it have to be a Chrysler 45 specific cable? Im new to boating and never worked on one before so and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Lot's of times people hit the end of the steering cable.It mushrooms out and won't fit in the steering tube.
You do have the big nut loose???
I've had to use a file on the ends to make it go down in size to fit thru the tube.
Post some pics of the setup??? J
You might have to disconect the whole steering head behind the dash.
