Re: Spark Plug Wire Repair

You can use an automotive wire replacement end, strip your wire insulation leaving about 3/4" of the inner wire left uncut. Bend this wire backwards and crimp the new connector on the old wire. I spray a little WD40 in the new boot and slip in on over the connector.

Re: Spark Plug Wire Repair

Thanks for the Reply!

As it turns out (for those of us who didn't already realize this, like me)

The wire ends have a cap on them and the coiled wire that snaps onto the plug is like a vampire tap that actually taps into the wire from the side. (underneath the collar of the boot)

All that happened was that the coil/tap pulled out of the wire.

Seems like a shoddy design, but that might be more common than I think. Not to mention the fact that it's lasted like that for 23 years so how much can I really complain.

We were able to reassemble it and are back in business.

However, I'm keeping tjello327's post in my back pocket for the future and as I start researching what it's going to take to update the ignition system.

Thanks Again tjello327!!
