Won't go in Reverse - Things to check?

We just finished an engine rebuild and the Motor is Running Great! We took it out several times for a total of about 6 to 8 hours so far.

Then, last night, it decided it didn't want to go in reverse any more.

I?m thinking I need to check the linkage, the controls for adjustment, and the lube in the transmission.

Anyone have any further suggestions of common conditions to check, etc.?

Thanks

I assume it is the same model as noted in your signature? 1987 125HP? Linkage is where I would look first. I had similar problems after I re-built my 1988 125hp power head. The linkage adjustment located below the bottom carburetor was out. Hard to get to, but solved my problem.

You need to adjust the shift linkage on the right side of the engine. The Clymer and Seloc books both have the procedure.

That's where I will start then.

Thanks for the input
