Testing on the Stand

I've been doing some testing and tuning with the motor on the stand.

My knowledge of the electrical system is still somewhat basic.

To start the motor I've been jumping the starter relay from the power to the yellow wire (which I'm assuming is the ignition wire).

That works great!

But to stop the motor I've been pulling the plug wires to get it to shut down. Which I can't say I like very much, it's still too easy to get zapped if you have a part of your body too close to metal.

Is there a better way to cut the power and shut the motor off?

On the terminal strip on the port side is a terminal with two white wires that cross over the top of the engine and connect to the CD packs. Grounding those wires will kill the ignition ( just like turning off the ignition switch)

If you keep pulling the plug wires off while the engine is running, you will ruin the CDI packs and it will cost you A couple hundred apiece to get new ones.

Short the two white wires to ground to shut off the engine.
