  • trim motor shorted out on 1995 Force 90hp

The trim pump motor shorted out burning the wires off ruining the trim motor. The boat was in the driveway after being used. The motor was last trimmed down but found trimmed all the way up. Any suggestions on the cause before I put new trim motor on.

Use a meter to check out the wires leading to and from the switch at the helm. Chances are the switch shorted out, as that switch has to be activated to supply power to the relays. If that all checks out, then you may have a bad relay. Usually relays won't work when they fail. But I suppose it is possible that it went to an "on" position.
