Just bought a 12.9 Chrysler. Unsure of year but I think 1973. On its first run today I snapped a little retainer on the shaft on the tiller. Now the 2 gears won’t engage. I found a few on eBay but they either look as bad as mine or have a slightly different design from a different year. Will tiller handlers from other years work or will only one year work (I know parts from 9.9-12.9-15 are mostly interchangeable but don’t know about year to year changes).

Guy in the AOMCI FB group led me in the right direction. Tiller bearing should fit all Chrysler / force 4.4-15hp from 68-88. Will update after I get it shipped but should be the ticket and save me from trying to match the tiller from the eBay junk heap.

The best source (in my opinion) for old Chrysler parts is Franz Marine.
He has the parts that are available or he will help you and lead you in the right direction for what parts are interchangable from different years and models/size.

New bushing installed and should be good to go. Next trick is I wonder where the natural point of the throttle is, I don’t think it’s start I think it might be slow or shift.
