I tried a 7mm /7/32" 12 point socket but it's not the right one (it catches but slips over)
I've been digging through the old post to find the correct size socket & found that 1/4" 12 point is correct one.

I have no problem buying tools, but I like to know if the is the correct seize?

It is 1/4 -12 point.--------The next standard socket for rod bolts is 5/16"-12 point.-----Then the really big motors / rods use 3/8"-12 point.

Yes, all Chryslers and Force I have worked with (4,4Hp up to 105Hp) have had 1/4 12 point cap bolts.

OMC use 5/16 12 point at the mid range engines (have worked with 20Hp and up to 75Hp).
Maybe as racerone says the lager OMC has 3/8 12 point.

Thanks Nordin,

I'm currently trying to locate a socket, I use to work on a bit bigger engines so when it comes to "specialty tools" I have little for that size (mine set goes as low as 1/2" with 1/2" drive

Good tools for OB are 1/4 or 3/8 drive wrench, 1/4-3/8 12 point sockets with 1/4 or 3/8 drive, adapter 1/4-3/8 and wise vers and of course regular 1/2 drive 12 or/and 6 point sockets. Infrared temp. gun (not expensive), spark tester (adjustable gap), timing light.

For electric/ignition troubleshooting a VOM, DVA adapter (if you are handy you can build your own DVA adapter. It contains just some few components such as 1 diod, 1 resistor and 1 condenser).
Google DVA adapter and you got a lot of diagrams for it.
I have build some DVA adapters for myself and they work perfect.

Yup, I have all of it except the DVA-adapter (I still want to built) and yes I do have multiple 1/4" & 3/8" drive socket-sets.
just not 12 point sockets smaller then 1/2" 3/8 drive.

The torque on these alloy bolts ( 180,000 psi ) is fairly high.------A quality socket should be used.

All the tools I own come with a lifetime warranty (Mac/Snap on/Gray/Stanley)
I'm not sure I understand the 180,000 psi part, the torque value was fairly low (if I remember correctly)
