my thermal switch is good but when I heat up the switch buzzer will not work. Could someone tell me if these work off a ground system? No volts to the “buss bar” terminal bar. Should the buzzer it self have 12 volts constant power?

More info please. What motor.

From what I can tell the switch supplies a ground to the buzzer and the buzzer has 12 volts on the other side from the key switch in Run. Your motor may be different.

Yes as GA_Boater says the thermo switch grounds the buzzer when engine is to hot

12VDC from keyswitch in RUN position to one terminal at buzzer.
From other terminal at buzzer a wire to the orange wire at terminal strip at engine.
Then there should be a orange wire from terminal strip to the thermoswitch at head..

Should have power at all times.

Key on ground the orange lead and the buzzer should sound off.

The thermoswitch shouldn't work until it gets over 140-160d(??)
In all my years I've never seen a bad switch.

I use a motorcycle or car horn when the buzzer goes bad.
You can hear the horn a lot better than the buzzer.
Just make sure you wire it right.

As mentioned, the thermoswitch only gets power with the ignition switch in "On" position. The red/blu (that connects power to the buzzer) wire is actually connected to the "I" terminal of the ignition switch.
