I have been working on this 89 Bayliner trophy bass boat and I have a battery question, it has 2 batteries but only one is connected to the motor to charge and the second one is only is only connected to the bow mounted trolling motor and battery gauge. So my question is this normal or should the second battery be connected to the charging system also? The way it is now I assume it would be charged with an external charger but I wasn’t sure if this is normal or not. Thanks in advance.

Yes, this is normal. The one connected to the motor should be a starting battery and the other one connected to your trolling motor will be a deep cycle battery. The deep cycle will usually be charged by plugging in to an external charger between uses. I personally use an onboard charger that is connected to the trolling motor battery and this plugs into a regular outlet at home between uses.
