Hi,
I'm glad to have found this forum..

I have the lower unit held vertically in the vise, filled it with oil from the bottom and it only took about 350ml, it dribbled a bit while I got the plug in, I just thought it would hold more..?

I had a fresh liter to start with, and I can see the oil thru the vent plug, so I'm happy, but curious.

Thanks,
Jeff

Yes the LU has a volume of 0,36 litre (12 ounces) and if you can see the oil level through the vent hole it is okey.

There's a slotted screw on the side of the nosecone, don't remove.
The drain's on the bottom.
That screw is an anchor pin for the shift mechanism.

Thanks, yes, I left that one alone.
I thought I might have to take it all apart to change the seals, but I pressure tested it and it held 10 or even 15 psi for quite a while. I remember someone saying they thought it was leaking gear oil, but I'm pretty sure it was just oil/fuel from the overboard drains
