6 hp gear case

I need to replace the shifter rod seal on my 1968 indicated by black circle, because when I pressure tested air blowing from hole. Since I see no way of doing anything from the top (6-8 inch reach) how do I separate the gear case from LU at the blue line in image? I have removed allen bolt indicated by red arrow. But canted seem to separate, even hit with rubber mallets, wooden hammer, etc. but no avail. Any suggestions would be great.

You have to remove the prop, bearring carrier with prop shaft seal (behind the prop).
Behind the bearring carrier there is an nut with a spring washer.
