Hi All,

What's the best way to flush my Mercury 120 2000 in a Marina (the boat is in the water)? Tilting the engine and using the muffs or, is there a flush port somewhere on the engine I can plug the hose onto?

I have (and can't find one) no owner's manual for this engine so, it makes tasks like this difficult.

Force didn't have a flush option for their motors.
The muffs is about the only way unless you want to add a port in the lower unit.
That means cutting holes and adding hoses and fittings to the pickup tube.
Go with the muffs.

Ok so, muffs didn't work.

No water coming out the outlet at all, even when starting the engine (don't worry, I only ran it for a few seconds).

Instead, just a load of water gushing out where the muffs are - despite a tight fit?

Sounds like the hose had too much water??
Try a 5 gal. bucket with a hose attached to the muffs.
Fill with fresh water and run until it's empty or fill the bucket as it runs???
That way it only uses what it needs?

Top man!

The bucket trick worked.

1. Attach the muffs and short hose to the outboard
2. Lower outboard
3. Fill bucket on pontoon and insert hose
4. Start engine and flush
5. Top up bucket as necessary

It was just too much water from the hose direct to the engine.

Many thanks!
