Hi guys!

First off, thank you all for the force knowledge you have. I am in the process of restoring a 1990 Bayliner Capri 1800 with a 120hp Force outboard. With y’all hope, I have been able to totally rebuild my powerhead, change my impeller and housing and recalled the throttle and shift linkages. With that being said, I’m on to my next issue. I was switching my prop to a new ss one. In taking the old one off, I pulled back a few parts. I found the the two screws used to hold the anode in place were loose. When I went to screw them back in, they will only go a few threads in their respective holes. Is the anode supposed to be loose? Any help is appreciated!!

Not loose.
If they won't tighten down?
Just remove the anode, not really needed unless you boat in salt water and then leave the motor in the water.

Thanks for the reply Jerry.

They have two button cap screws but they will not tighten. I’ve tried 1/4 x 20, 1/4 x 28 and metric. You can get 2-3 threads in and meet resistance. It leaves the anode loose. Once the prop it back on, it’s held down but it still has a little play against the bolts for the bearing spool. Since I am in freshwater, I can take it out. Do I need to use a spacer to take up its place?

No spacer needed.

IF?? you want they sell stick anodes that can be added to the top of the cavitation plate.
But not needed at all.
