Hello all!

I recently purchased a very much so project 1990 bayliner capri (1800?) with a 1986 force 86 attached to it.

The motor has the lower unit pulled off and the two gears at the rear of the prop shaft are stripped and need to be replaced. Aside from those two gears it also needs the whole prop shaft assembly and prop.

Does anyone know where to acquire these parts or know if other engines share these same parts?

Thanks!

The prop shaft fits a LOT of different units 1976-86.
So does the rear gear set. 1979-89
The front gear also 1976-86 and fits 85hp only.

The "new" parts can be found but not from a dealer, try e-bay or try the
different auction sites..

IF?? you could find the parts you'll need a factory manual to assemble
and might need special tools to shim the gear sets??

Your best bet is find a lower unit from a non runner.
You can use any 78-1989 lower.
The lower from a 125 will fit but the prop will need to be changed because of the gear ratio.
Or find a complete motor somewhere
Again e-bay.

You do know jerry is talking about chrysler motors and lower units?
your era force is just a rebadged chrysler, when chrysler went " under" around '84

should be to find lower units reasonably easy,

Doubt you'll find late 70's force motors etc

Jerry is right, get a different lower unit - i see them all the time on craigslist - had a few spares myself when I had my force engine.
