WOT Woes!

Something is not right. At WOT my engine hit 2000 RPM and settled in with a per. WOT should have hit some where around 5000 + RPM's.
Checking timing and the actions called for in my SELCO Chrysler Outboard Repair Manual 1962-1984 required a circumference of my flywheel and then the WOT timing which was 32 degrees BTDC. In order to find that point on my flywheel I had to measure the distance from TDC of #1 to the bottom of that stroke, 2.706" or approx 2-23/32". 32/360*= 0-088 now I was suppose to multiply 0.088 x flywheel cir, 30.75" = distance to be measured from TDC clockwise to get my 32* BTDC mark on the flywheel. DONE (SEE PHOTO FROM MANUAL) My flywheel has two inscribed marks, one is (l0) and the other is (3I6) as in 36 with the line being the mark. When I locate my 32 degree spot on the flywheel it is before, (BTDC) the 36 mark. Which poses as a problem for me. Any help out there? 713-899-3336 or text me please.

Disconnect the stator from your regulator / rectifier and see if you get WOT. If so replace your RR.

Check and thanks. I have a 55 gal drum coming so I can check wot real quick. Or I’m going to lake and test on the trailer in water.

Checked OHM's and voltages in rectifier / regulator and all was to spec. Started motor in 55 gallon drum, let it idle till warmed up, blipped the throttle, hit 3000 RPM and blew all the water out of the barrel, shut it off. Runs better? Putting her in the lake tomorrow.

You said."At WOT my engine hit 2000 RPM and settled in with a per."
What is a per???

Running in a barrel only shows that the motor runs.
It has no load and should jump to 5K with no problems.

You posted a bunch of info from Seloc but neglected to state what motor you have??
Oh yea Seloc is the bare minimum needed for repairs.
Great magazine if you run out of TP.

It sounds like you might have gotten hot?

Do a compression and then spark test.
Post the results

Engine - Chrysler 70 HP 707HE - Magna Power Electronic Ign Removed, coil and condenser added.
Cylinder Comp 135psi held steady - I rebuilt the engine back when I first started this project.
Timing = TDC not running.
Timing at 4500 RPM = 34*
I tested the boat and engine in the water this morning and had no woes, ran like a top with gobs more throttle left. Installed a throttle stop at 4500 RPM.
