I recently bought a 9.9hp force short shaft. Its in great condition an seems well taking care up. When i started it in a barrel it was not peeing water so i cut it off an started it back an it was peeing water. After that it has not pumped water out since. I checked the impeller it looks find. I ordered a new one anyway. There was nothing clogged in the foot an i blew compressed air threw the water pick up tube in the midsection an it blew right threw no problems so now im stumped. This year doesnt seem to have a thermostat that i can find any help would be great thanks

You have the lower unit deep enough in the bucket?
It needs to be at least 2-4" over the cavitation plate.

Using muffs: they require a special muff that fits the slits in the lower unit.

If you have a thermo it would be in the driveshaft housing.

This is the one you need.
It also fits up to the 50hp.

Its about a inch or two over the foot. The cavitation plate is right above the foot right? I might just have to go get me some muffs you are talking about.

The 1-2 inches might not be deep enough?

The pump isn't a self priming pump and needs to be under water for the initial startup.
After it's pumping, then it can go all day with out repriming..
