Sorry, sorta necro-threading

Here's #4 from the original engine.
This thing obviously ran on magic

A little marine tex and a piece of sand paper will fix that right up.

That 4cyl can run with a sick cyl.
Not good but can run.
The 3 cyl. won't run at all.

The 50 run's almost as good on one as it does on two good pistons.

Keep us informed.

Yeah I'm patching this one together, then either building a new one , bored, new oversize pistons, etc, or replacing the boat.

Well.
Got into this a little more. My original engine has rust damage on the crank journal for number 4 cylinder. The replacement engine has 3 broken Pistons and one new one. The cylinder four number four in the replacement engine is scored really bad so I just decided to use it for donor parts. The connecting rod for the new piston has been tightened wrong and is no good. The number three main bearing shell is shattered. The locating pins in the main bearing bore are smashed. So this new engine is going to donate one piston a couple rods and a crankshaft to my original engine. This is great fun.

The fun is when it runs again . I actually enjoy ressurecting stuff like this. I have a few motorcycles that are coming back to live this year as well . And a little quad for my son .

The bottom hole is to check for water (or oil) in the exhaust manifold.
The deflectors direct the exhaust to the outlet.
I have a sport jet and there is a hole in the bottom and threads into the block, but it is still drilled all the way through and will drain the bottom of the manifold.

So..... the original pistons have holes in the side of the skirts on one side of the piston. The wiseco pistons do not.
Are these pistons correct?

Your original piston for a 120OLD90B should have solid pistons.

If yours has holes?? Maybe someone has already been in there??

PICS???

Now that you mention it I realize I probably had a brain fart. I was probably looking at the Pistons for the replacement engine. I'll check in a little bit here when I get to work .

Yeah i'm a doofus.
the other engine has holes in the pistons, not the original.
The new piston in the other engine is the correct one for my engine though.

My opinion is they're over rated.
They used the same reed block on 1989 -1994
And the older ones fit 197?? to 1988.
I don't know what the difference is but make sure you get the right one if you buy used.

So to bring a thread back from the dead....
I had it all back together and running and then I lost spark and I found out I pinched a wire for the stator.
So so it's almost there I just have to diagnose the no spark issue. I ordered another stator but it was not the right one and the seller is being a butthead. "they're all the same"
Right.
But but I also bought another boat this one's a 1985 sunrunner 165 with the MerCruiser 140 and the alpha one outdrive. 235 hours on it.
