Trailer mounted 26 foot flybridge boat. Work done high and dry.

I usually replace the raw water engine mounted water pump impeller every few years. This time when I pulled the old impeller, one vane was missing. Not sure where it went. Not anywhere that I can see. Connected to the pump, directly above it, is a screen / filter. No vane, or pieces caught there. Is it possible for the vane to get stuck somewhere in the cooling system ? Do I have to find and remove the piece? Do you think it got ground into small bits and pieces and passed through the system ?

Hoping someone with more experience can answer this question. I am hesitant to run the engine without knowning the risk.

YOUR COMMENTS PLEASE !

Thanks

The raw water filter is after the raw water pump so chances that impeller parts big enough to cause a blockage to slip by are small. Most likely the lost vane fell down in the intake hose where it still sits.
