I have a 81 Skeeter bass boat that sat for 2 yrs at my father's. The steering wouldn't turn motor. It has a pro v 150 Yamaha, think 86. Can I some how grease or oil the cables? Don't want to buy new kit till I have to. I'll have to buy complete steering kit cause the cables are old set uyi was informed by boats questions. Thank you for the information if possible

Disconnect the steering cable on the drag link and see if the motor turns on the swivel. While the cable is off, try spinning the wheel to see if the cable is stuck.

Most of the time, the stainless steering rod at the motor gets corroded into the motor steel tilt tube. If you can rock it front to back with a pipe wrench (motor disconnected), she will likely loosen up. Do not hammer the end of the rod, or it will mushroom and make your life heck.
