Fitting a shift lever assembly to a throttle lever

Hi,
just wondering if anyone has any idea on how to fit a shift lever assembly to a throttle lever? Thought I’d ask the question before I start bending and breaking stuff to get it on!

ive added a photo of the shift lever which may help understand my question, it’s the shift lever inside the throttle control box as well for a Evinrude power pilot

installation is the reverse of the disassembly. need to know the type of control box and engine type
