I have what appears to be a broken cable on my 18 ft Sea Pro with a Merc 115. The cable goes into the floor in the console and comes out of the rear corner. I don't know whether it runs in a tube and I am not sure that I can access it while in the hull. How do I run the new cable if I can't get at it? I am thinking that I would attach a length of wire cable to the old cable and pull it through when I take the old one out. This would allow me to measure the old cable to make sure that I have the right length, and then use the wire cable to pull the new cable into place. Anyone with some experience on this?.

You got it. Hopefully the steering cable isn't zip-tied to other stuff like fuel lines and electrical cables.

Thanks - Still trying to get the cable off of the motor. Frozen cable and corroded nut that attaches the cable to the threaded spool coming out of the motor. Mine rotates with the nut so it makes it hard to get the cable out.
