Mercruiser 4000 controls differences/options

I'm replacing the dated 3000 controls and cables and ordered a 883710A03 but see the 8M0030551 says all inboards. Is there any reason I cannot use the 883710A03 controls in my sterndrive setup? This is one area I cannot find information about.

I just Googled both of your p/ns, The overview on each controller (they seem to be the same?) states: "Fits all current sterndrives and Mercury/Mariner 3.4L outboards with external trim cylinders" Based on this, it sounds like it will work.

thanks. I've found mixed information on it and the instructions only reference outboards. However, it has all the proper connections so I think I'm going to try it.

In case anyone comes across this... I found an updated manual on the A03 model and this is 100% rigged for sterndrive use. I believe the A02 model lacks 2nd set of arms for the sterndrive but the information Merc gives is complete crap. I had to find another manual then look inside the unit to verify.
