Better battery life.

What is the best way to charge and keep a new deep cycle battery charged? I use battery for trolling motor and lights,I have a older 6- 12 6 amp&2amp charger is this ok to use, or is their a better charger?What about the on board chargers?

On board chargers are better in most cases. To keep a battery at optimum level you need a 3 stage charger. The 3 stages goes from bulk, to float to maintain. The straight charger you have is a bulk only charger, either bulk 6 or 2 amps. Sure 2 amps is not much but trying to put 2 amps in a fully charged battery is not good
